My Experience in Chicago

Hello everybody!

My name is Johnny Garcia, It's a pleasure write about my experience for you. But before it, let me talk you about me:

I'm from Peru, I live in Cajamarca City, The North of Peru, it's in the peruvian highlands.  I work in the “Universidad Privada del Norte” College, I’m a teacher, I teach some course to Civil Engineers. Besides this, I have a Construction Company.

As for my family, well… I’m married and I have one child, my wife Cecy is twenty-seven years old and my son Joe is two years old. Two days before come here I found out that she is pregnant. Yeah!. I very happy for that.  And… I have five brothers and any sister. My brother Jose is here. My oldest brother is married too, and he has a daugther. My young brothers live with my parents.

Oh, What about my hobbies?  I like play the guitar in my free times, and read some books or watch series recommend me my brothers.

I came to Chicago to study English, really to talk this language, but my vocabulary is very limit. I want  to learn English because it’s an international language and it’s important now, for my job, my life, my professional grown. Specifically I wanna speak more fluently and listen well the english speakers.

About the Picasso, Absolutely I don’t understand his sculpture. But I’ll try.  I think it’s represent eagle wins - - - I would called it:  “Freedom Flight”

Culture Center is a big building to know in one day. Is very limit one day. It’s interesting all things we can get to see. I was struck the Arm Room.

In free times the group of students, we has gone to stores, walked for City’s streets, travelled on buses, on trains, etc.

  1. Johnny, again, congratulations on your wife's pregnancy! I hope she is doing well while you are away. In the meantime, I am excited to have another teacher's perspective in the class, in addition to your brother. As this is the first time we are running this workshop, we appreciate the input. Unfortunately we didn't have all of the placement test scores prior to the workshop's start, so now we are in smaller groups, which I hope you find enjoyable. We have some great things planned, which will promote reading, writing, listening and reading skills. Our methods for teaching are very precise, and they incorporate different types of learning, not just lectures. Stay warm, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Chicago.
